GSE Football Final

In a week that saw the SEC West reclaim its dominance, a Heisman candidacy flat line in Lubbock and one emerge in Shreveport, and the return of the Notre Dame home field advantage, the one thing that remains constant is that college football reigns supreme!!

With the resurgence of the likes of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina the notion that the SEC East was back on top was in full swing!  This week the West struck back... with the LSU win over the Gamecocks @ Death Valley, Mississippi State's big win over the Vols @ StarkVegas, and of course the Hogs blowout of Kentucky!  Oh I forgot...of course the #1 team in the country..Bama's romp of the Mizzou Tigers in Columbia.  A quick note on Arkansas...the Hogs have officially arrived to the 2012 season...the last two weeks they looked the part with a beat down of Auburn on the Plains and a game last night called on the mercy rule early in the 3rd quarter with Arkansas leading Kentucky 49-7.. so if Arkansas is remaining on your schedule...pack a lunch.

Geno Smith had a President Obama debate moment in Lubbock as his poor performance opened a Heisman race that seemed all but locked up for the dynamic West Virginia QB.  Now the race is wide open and one potential forerunner is Johnny Football (Johnny Maziel) from Texas A&M.  Johnny Football broke another SEC record he set against Arkansas by compiling a total of 577 yds and 6 TDs against La Tech.  Certainly his Heisman candidacy will be at great risk when the Bayou Bengal Tigers come calling next week @ Kyle Field, but if he plays well or somehow pulls the upset over LSU, then he will be the favorite.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are certainly back, and so is the Notre Dame HFA!!  Ask Jimmy Johnson his feelings about the Notre Dame HFA...when the Canes lost in a similar circumstance in 88' and told his team that you can't leave the game in the refs hands when playing @ Notre Dame.  Standford scored twice on 2nd and 4th down, but the goal line is somehow a little tougher to negotiate @ South Bend!
